Agartala, June 6: In a moment of immense pride for Tripura, 28-year-old Aritra Roy, the first mountaineer from the state to conquer Mount Everest, was warmly felicitated by a local club in Agartala on Thursday upon his return.
The felicitation ceremony coincided with World Environment Day, during which Aritra also took part in a sapling plantation drive, reinforcing his commitment to environmental causes.
His expedition to the Everest Base Camp wasn’t just a personal achievement—it was a powerful message for climate consciousness.
Roy cycled over 1,300 kilometers from Agartala to Nepal, aiming to inspire others to reduce their carbon footprint and adopt sustainable practices.
Speaking to reporters, Aritra sent a strong message to the youth, urging them to embrace positivity, stay mentally strong, and steer clear of harmful addictions such as drugs by staying involved in physical and goal-oriented activities like sports or fitness.
Looking to the future, the young climber shared his next big ambition: to scale four more major peaks across the globe, including Mount Kanchenjunga, the highest mountain in India.
Aritra Roy’s feat not only etched his name in the history of Tripura but also served as a beacon of environmental awareness and youth empowerment through adventure.
