Agartala, September 21:** Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated two healthcare facilities at AGMC and GBP Hospital, including an ICU in the newly developed Super Specialty Block and a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD).
The new installations are expected to strengthen the hospital’s critical-care services and improve systems related to sterilisation and infection control.
At the inauguration programme, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar was present as the special guest, while Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gittey attended as the guest of honour. Senior doctors, healthcare professionals and departmental officials also participated.
Dr Saha said modernising the state’s healthcare infrastructure remained a priority of the government. He said efforts were being made to expand facilities and improve the quality of medical services available to people across Tripura.
The Chief Minister also referred to various infrastructure development initiatives being undertaken at GBP Hospital to enhance its ability to provide specialised healthcare.
The ICU, located in the newly developed Super Specialty Block, is expected to strengthen the hospital’s facilities for patients requiring intensive medical care. The CSSD, meanwhile, will provide a dedicated system for sterilising medical equipment and supplies, supporting infection-control measures.
Dr Saha said continued improvement of hospital infrastructure would help create a more modern healthcare system and facilitate better patient services.
Officials said the two newly inaugurated facilities would complement existing medical services at AGMC and GBP Hospital and contribute to more efficient patient management.
The development forms part of the ongoing efforts to upgrade the state’s major government referral hospital and improve access to specialised and quality healthcare services.
