Agartala, April 10: In a proactive move to ensure a hundred percent voting turnout, the Election Commission in the West Tripura parliamentary constituency has launched a pioneering initiative – home voting where the voting facilities reaches to voters at door step for a certain section of voters.
Starting Wednesday, the Election Commission introduced home voting facilities, enabling elderly voters aged eighty five and above, as well as people with disabilities (PwD), those registered for the facility, to cast their ballots from the convenience of their homes.
A large number of election officials assembled at Umakanta Academy ground, equipped with polling materials and security personnel, embarked on their respective constituencies to visit registered voters’ homes for home voting.
Voting commenced at 9 AM, with election teams diligently ensuring transparency and tight security to facilitate a free and fair voting process, devoid of any intimidation.
Teams collecting votes are traversing every corner, garnering appreciation from voters for their comprehensive outreach.
Expressing gratitude, voters commend the election administration and officers for facilitating their fundamental right to vote from the comfort of their homes.
The Election Commission’s initiative underscores its unwavering dedication to inclusivity and accessibility in democratic practices.
The home voting shall continue for two days – April 10 and 12.
In West Tripura all total there 9596 persons whose age is 85 years plus and 8213 persons with disability.
