Aizawl: Excise & Narcotics Department on December 23, recovered 20,000 (1.900 kgs) of methamphetamine from the possessions of Litan Nama(28) Boxanagar, Sepahijala Dist, Tripura and Jakir Hussain (23) Veluarchar, Sepahijala Dist, Tripura. Their Mahindra Scorpio bearing Regn No TR04-E-0772 was also seized.
Upon further investigation, the Excise & Narcotics Department seized another 80,000 tablets (Kg 7.940), making the combine seizure amounting to 1,00,000 tablets (Kg 9.840) worth Rs. 127,92,000 in the local market.
The two apprehended have been booked The Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and were sent to Special Court (NDPS Act), Aizawl District.
Between 18th December and 24th December, 2023, the Excise & Narcotics Department have seized 938.240 kgs of heroin, 9.840 Kgs of methamphetamine as well as several bottles of local and foreign made liquor.
