Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday flagged-off a lorry from Agartala with relief materials for the people of Manipur living in various camps following the recent communal clashes.
The relief materials arranged by arranged by BJP Tripura unit mainly consisted of food grains, noodles, biscuits, sugar, milk, tea, garments, etc weighing around around 25 metric tonnes shall be distributed by the BJP Manipur unit and is likely to reached Imphal by Friday.
CM Saha said that following the communal clashes there, despite the state government under the able leadership of CM N Biren Singh has fast normalised the situation but still several people in Manipur are living in various camps and so the BJP unit of Tripura has come forward to provide some relief during this crisis period.
He also appealed to the people of Manipur to maintain peace and harmony as violence is no solution to any problem.
Along with CM, former Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Council Dipak Majumder, Minister Tinku Roy and other leaders of the BJP were present and the lorry was flagged off from the party office in Krishnanagar.
