Killa, December 31, 2025:The Maharani Kanchan Praba Devi Memorial Football League (Women) 2025 concluded in a grand manner today at Joying Mini Stadium, Killa, with Joying Women FC emerging as the champions of the tournament.
Organised over a period of one month and ten days, the league began on November 24, 2025, and concluded on December 31, 2025. A total of 10 women’s teams participated, and 22 matches were played throughout the tournament, reflecting growing enthusiasm and competitiveness in women’s football in Tripura.
The final match was played between Joying Women FC and Oklang Women FC. After an intense contest, Joying Women FC clinched the title, winning a cash prize of ₹1.5 lakh along with the championship trophy. Oklang Women FC, the runner-up, received ₹1 lakh and a trophy.
The winner’s trophy was formally handed over by Purna Chandra Jamatia, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Jamatia Hoda Okra Bipra Kumar Jamatia, Manindra Mohan Jamatia, former CEO CK Jamatia, and other distinguished guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Purna Chandra Jamatia said that the league was organised with a clear vision of ensuring the growth of women in every sphere. He described this as the “Bubagra Pradyot thought,” emphasising that when women progress, the community also progresses. Naming the tournament after Maharani Kanchan Praba Devi, he stated that Tiprasa women are not weak but strong, and if given equal opportunities, they can excel in sports, music, education, and all sectors of society. He added that providing equal opportunities to women is a shared responsibility of both society and institutions.
Addressing the gathering, Bipra Kumar Jamatia expressed happiness at witnessing a women’s football tournament at Killa. He noted that for the last 30–35 years, Killa has been widely known as a major hub of men’s football in Tripura, and now women footballers are also creating history and establishing their identity. He expressed hope that women will continue to achieve greater progress in football and other fields in the future.
The successful conclusion of the Maharani Kanchan Praba Devi Memorial Women’s Football League 2025 stands as a landmark initiative for women’s empowerment through sports, inspiring young girls across Tripura to pursue football and other sporting disciplines with confidence.
