A shocking case of child abduction has gripped the East Nalchar area of Tripura’s Sepahijala district, leaving a family in deep anguish and raising serious questions about police inaction. Nearly ten days after a minor girl was allegedly kidnapped from **Ward No. 5 of East Nalchar Gram Panchayat** under the **Melaghar Police Station**, the authorities have failed to trace her whereabouts.
According to the victim’s father, the incident took place on **Vijaya Dashami**, during the Durga Puja celebrations, when his daughter—aged around 10 to 12 years—was forcibly taken away. “Since that day, we haven’t seen or heard from our daughter,” he said, overcome with emotion.
The family filed a complaint at Melaghar Police Station immediately after the alleged abduction. However, they claim that despite repeated assurances from police officials that the child would be recovered within four days, no visible progress has been made. “They promised us swift action, but nothing has happened so far,” the father lamented.
He has accused a local youth, **Sujit Deb**, a resident of the ONGC area in Nalchar, of being behind the kidnapping. Despite sharing details with the police, the family alleges that the investigation has been slow and lacks urgency.
On Saturday, the distressed father once again visited the police station, appealing for stronger action and immediate recovery of his daughter. “I just want my daughter back,” he pleaded.
The incident has caused widespread concern among local residents, who are demanding that the authorities **intensify search operations** and ensure justice for the affected family. Community members have urged police officials to treat the case as a top priority and ensure the **safe return of the missing child** at the earliest.
