Agartala, Oct 10 (PTI) Three youths from Tripura have secured jobs as machine operators with Balmer Lawrie in Dubai after completing a state-sponsored skill development programme, marking a significant achievement for the state’s efforts to connect trained candidates with international employment opportunities.
Abhoy Debnath, Sanjit Das and Ripan Das secured the overseas placements after successfully completing training under the Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa (MMDUP) at the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Agartala, officials said.
The three candidates underwent 80 days of specialised training, comprising a total of 480 hours, to acquire the skills required for employment in the industrial sector.
Following their selection, they are expected to receive an average starting salary of Rs 65,000 per month. Their monthly earnings could rise to Rs 96,000 after six months, depending on their performance, according to the information provided by the authorities.
The placements highlight the role of skill development programmes in equipping young people with industry-relevant training and enabling them to explore career opportunities beyond their home state and the country.
An official said the achievement demonstrated how targeted vocational training could help youths from Tripura access employment in the global job market.
The official added that the successful placements were expected to motivate other aspiring candidates to pursue specialised training and explore career opportunities in technical and industrial fields.
The Directorate of Skill Development views the placements as an encouraging development in the state’s efforts to link vocational training with employment opportunities. The initiative seeks to improve the employability of young people by providing them with practical skills suited to industry requirements.
For the three selected candidates, the jobs in Dubai offer an opportunity to begin their careers in an international work environment while applying the skills acquired during their training.
The development also highlights the importance of connecting skill development initiatives with actual job opportunities, particularly for youths seeking technical and industrial careers.
Officials expressed hope that the achievement would encourage more young people to enrol in vocational training programmes and consider employment opportunities outside Tripura.
The placements are expected to strengthen awareness about skill-based education as a pathway to professional growth and overseas employment, while supporting the state’s broader efforts to enhance youth employability through specialised training.
