Agartala: Dec 03: Finally, the Congress party has spoken out regarding the volatile situation in Bangladesh. Condemning the recent developments, the Congress took a strong stance against the government’s role in handling the situation. During a press conference at the Pradesh Congress office on Tuesday, party spokesperson Pabitra Chakraborty stated that following Monday’s attack on the Bangladesh High Commission office, the scale of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh by extremists has intensified. He also highlighted the incident where a lawyer was injured while seeking the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das on bail.
In light of these events, the Congress criticized the Indian government’s failure to take appropriate action. They expressed concern over the government’s apparent push towards transforming India into a Hindu state, calling it a dangerous shift. The Congress party called for the Indian government to ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh. Chakraborty further pointed out that after the attack on the Bangladesh High Commission, the Chief Minister of Tripura condemned the incident on social media. However, he raised questions about the manner of the condemnation, stating that while the BJP may lack dignity, the dignity of the people of India should be upheld. He claimed that such posts undermine the honor of the citizens of India.
The Congress spokesperson also accused the RSS, its affiliates, and senior BJP leaders of being behind the burning of the Bangladesh flag at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission office. He criticized the Chief Minister and other ministers for encouraging extremist elements in the state with their statements and actions. Additionally, he raised concerns about misleading statements made by a state minister, who claimed that a bus from India was attacked in Bangladesh, while the TRTC Chairman contradicted it by stating the bus was involved in an accident. Such false information, according to the Congress, is unacceptable.
