Agartala, October 2: Tripura will organise the ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’ and ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ across all eight districts on October 7 as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Friday.
The programmes are being organised as part of a nationwide campaign marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service. Preparations for the events were reviewed at an organisational meeting held at the state party headquarters, where arrangements for their coordinated conduct across the state were discussed.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chowdhury said the yatras were aimed at taking the message of public service to different sections of society and encouraging greater participation in activities associated with public welfare and nation-building.
“Through these yatras, we aim to strengthen our collective commitment to public service and carry the message of seva to every section of society,” he said.
The minister said efforts were being made to ensure the programmes were conducted in a coordinated manner across the districts, with participation from different sections of society.
The Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra will include processions centred around the Seva Jyoti as well as cycle and motorcycle rallies at different locations, according to officials involved in the preparations.
The state-level programme is scheduled to conclude before 11 am on October 7, following which Modi’s address will be broadcast live, officials said.
Chowdhury has also stressed the need for greater participation of young people and college students in the programmes. MLA Abhishek Debroy, who was involved in the preparatory discussions, also called for increased participation by youth.
District-level coordination and logistical arrangements have been discussed with officials to ensure smooth conduct of the events. District magistrates from all eight districts had earlier participated in virtual discussions on preparations for the Seva Jyoti programme.
The ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which began on September 17 and is scheduled to continue until October 17, comprises a series of programmes focused on public service and welfare-related activities. The Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra is one of the key programmes scheduled under the campaign.
Chowdhury appealed to officials, organisational representatives and members of the public to extend cooperation for the successful conduct of the October 7 programmes.
He said collective participation would help ensure that the message of public service and social responsibility reaches people across the state.
