Tripura SEC sets September 25 for final polling station list ahead of urban local body elections

With preparations underway for the upcoming urban local body elections in Tripura, the State Election Commission has notified the schedule for publication and finalisation of polling stations across the state’s 21 urban local bodies including the vital Agartala Municipal Corporation, State Election Commission of Tripura, Secretary Anurag Sen said.
According to Sen, the draft list of polling stations was published on September 17 by the district municipal election officers, who are the respective district magistrates and collectors.
“The notification for publication of polling stations has already been issued. The draft publication was done on September 17,” Sen said.
He said the process for filing claims and objections against the draft polling station list would begin after September 21, while the disposal of such claims and objections would be completed by September 23 by the concerned urban local body authorities.
“The final list of polling stations will be published on September 25. We will also have the number of polling stations for the upcoming urban local body elections by then,” Sen said.
The exercise comes at a time when the State Election Commission is conducting preparations for the Village Committee elections in Tripura, with the urban local body poll process also moving towards the next stage.
The notification for the polling station exercise marks an important step towards the conduct of elections to the 21 urban local bodies in the state.
