**Mungiakami, September 7, 2026:** The nomination process for Tipra Motha candidates contesting the upcoming Village Council (VC) elections under Mungiakami Block has gained momentum, with candidates filing nomination papers for nearly 90 per cent of the seats across the 14 Village Councils on Monday.
The latest round of nominations comes two days after candidates backed by Tipra Motha had filed nomination papers for around 50 per cent of the seats on Saturday. The nomination process on Saturday was conducted in the presence of MDC Utpal Debbarma, with party workers and supporters accompanying the candidates.
On Monday, the party intensified its efforts during the final phase of the nomination process. Candidates from nearly 90 per cent of the seats under the 14 Village Councils submitted their nomination papers following the prescribed procedures. The filing of nominations witnessed the participation of a large number of party workers and supporters across the Mungiakami Block area.
According to the party, strengthening its organisational base at the grassroots level and contesting the Village Council elections with the support of local people remain its key objectives. The party has been focusing on strengthening its presence in individual areas and mobilising workers ahead of the elections.
The nomination filing also generated enthusiasm among Tipra Motha workers and supporters in different parts of Mungiakami. Party workers were seen accompanying the candidates during the submission of nomination papers.
MDC Utpal Debbarma said that around 50 per cent of the nominations had been filed on Saturday, while the figure increased to nearly 90 per cent by Monday. He added that preparations were underway to complete the nomination process for the remaining seats within the stipulated deadline.
The upcoming Village Council elections have already intensified political activity at the grassroots level, with various parties stepping up organisational preparations. In Mungiakami too, political activities have gathered pace as candidates and party workers prepare for the electoral contest.
Tipra Motha leaders said the party would further intensify its campaign and outreach among voters after completing the nomination process.
