**Sonamura, September 7, 2026:** In a joint operation based on specific intelligence inputs, security personnel seized 220 grams of suspected yaba tablets from a dwelling house at N.C. Nagar Ward No. 4 under Sonamura Police Station in Tripura.
The raid and search operation was conducted by personnel from Sonamura Police Station, 81 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the 11th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR). Acting on secret information regarding the suspected involvement of a person in drug peddling, the joint team carried out a search at the residence.
During the operation, the security personnel recovered and seized a total of 220 grams of suspected yaba tablets. Apart from the suspected narcotic substance, the team also recovered Android mobile phones, various documents and a Hyundai Aura car bearing registration number **TR-03Q-0609**.
The recovered items were taken into custody following due legal procedures. A specific case has subsequently been registered at Sonamura Police Station under the provisions of the **Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985**.
The owner of the house was arrested in connection with the case and produced before the Learned District Court after completion of the required legal formalities. Police sought custody of the accused for further interrogation and investigation.
The court subsequently granted **three days of police remand**, allowing investigators to question the accused and gather further information regarding the source of the suspected yaba tablets and possible links to a wider drug network.
Police and security agencies are continuing their investigation to determine the origin of the seized narcotics and establish whether the accused was involved in any larger drug trafficking operation.
The joint operation highlights the continued efforts of Tripura Police, BSF and TSR personnel to curb the movement and distribution of narcotic substances in the state. Authorities are also examining the seized mobile phones and documents as part of the investigation to identify possible associates and establish the wider network, if any, connected with the case.
