Agartala: June 06: Jewel Ahmed, the alleged hijacker of the Officer-in-Charge’s (OC) vehicle, has been ordered to 14 days of judicial custody following his presentation in court by SI IO Rakesh Debnath of Bishalgarh Police Station.
Ahmed was initially placed under a three-day police remand, followed by two days of police custody granted by the court. On Friday morning, after the remand period ended, he was brought before the court again, where the order for judicial custody was issued.
Authorities confirmed that three additional suspects remain at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them. During Ahmed’s arrest, law enforcement discovered a significant quantity of illegal firecrackers at his residence. Following a thorough search, he was taken into custody on Wednesday evening from his father-in-law’s house in Madhupur Police Station area.
Speaking on the matter, Bishalgarh OC Sanjit Sen stated that further interrogation of Ahmed is expected to provide leads on the whereabouts of the remaining suspects.
Ahmed’s arrest is linked to two hijacking incidents at Bishalgarh Police Station, with case number 42/2025 forming the basis of his detention. Officials had planned to present him in court on Thursday morning, as confirmed by OC Sanjit Sen.
Investigations continue, and authorities urge the public to remain vigilant as efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects progress.
