Agartala: Jan 11: Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury has expressed concerns over the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids in Tripura, targeting individuals and organizations suspected of financial irregularities and drug trafficking. While acknowledging the need for such raids, Chowdhury criticized the ED for not apprehending the main accused, suggesting that many state leaders involved in financial irregularities remain untouched.
Chowdhury argued that raiding ordinary businessmen’ homes won’t lead to capturing the primary culprits, emphasizing that the main accused continue to operate freely. He also stated that these raids reflect the collapse of the state’s financial and economic order, as well as the rule of law ¹.
It’s worth noting that the ED’s actions are part of a broader effort to address financial irregularities and drug trafficking in the state. However, Chowdhury’s concerns highlight the need for a more targeted and effective approach to tackling these issues.
