Agartala: Jan 01: On the first day of the New Year, the state’s tourism development took a significant step forward. On Wednesday, an event was held at the Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala, where the Tripura Tourism Department officially launched a 16-seat, state-of-the-art Urbania bus by Force Motors for the convenience of tourists. Additionally, the department introduced recreational pedal boats in the palace’s water body for tourists. The formal inauguration was done by the Minister of Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury, who waved a green flag to mark the launch.
Speaking at the event, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the government’s modern approach towards the state’s tourism development. He mentioned that the government is now focusing on smaller aspects of tourism that were previously overlooked but are crucial to promoting tourism globally. As part of this initiative, the government has introduced pedal boats in the Ujjayanta Palace’s water body, with ten boats being provided initially. The plan is to deploy a total of 100 boats across various significant water bodies, including places like Chobimura, Narikel Kunj, and Neermahal, in the coming months. This move is expected to attract more tourists to the state’s tourist centers.
Minister Chowdhury further emphasized that the government’s focus is not just on developing infrastructure but also on expanding and promoting tourism to a global level. To support this initiative, the inauguration of two buses was also a part of the event to enhance the connectivity and accessibility of various tourist destinations. The ceremony was attended by the Director of the Tourism Department and other dignitaries, marking a significant stride toward the growth of tourism in Tripura.
