Agartala: Dec 12: Based on a tip-off, a woman was arrested by the GRP Police, RPF, and the Intelligence Branch in Agartala on the afternoon of December 12, 2024. The woman was apprehended at Agartala Railway Station, and authorities seized 29.740 kg of dry marijuana, which was concealed in two trolley bags. The woman had intended to transport the marijuana by train to Assam. During interrogation, it was revealed that she had previously carried marijuana in a similar manner on two occasions.
The estimated market value of the seized marijuana is around 3 lakh rupees. Following the seizure, an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act case was filed against the woman at the Agartala GRP Police Station. A team of female officers from the GRP is continuing to interrogate the suspect, and authorities believe that more individuals could be arrested in connection with the case.
The woman is expected to be presented before the court tomorrow. The authorities are working to unravel the full extent of the illegal drug network and are likely to make further arrests as the investigation progresses.
