Agartala: Dec 05: Jitendra Chaudhury, the Leader of the Opposition, has criticized Tipra Motha for creating a drama over the old Raj Bhavan and Pushpavan Palace. He questioned the party’s selective opposition, pointing out that there are other venues in the state like Malancha Nivas and Manikya Court without any objections. Chaudhury accused Motha of diverting attention from real issues, particularly concerning the tribals of Tripura. He claimed that Motha’s actions were an attempt to distract the public from their failure to fulfill promises made to the tribal people, including the creation of Greater Tipraland.
Chaudhury highlighted that before the last Lok Sabha elections, Tipra Motha allegedly struck a deal in Delhi, agreeing to field candidates using the BJP’s symbol, not their own party symbol. He criticized Motha for not addressing tribal issues despite these deals, noting that agreements made for the tribals had not been fulfilled, and no meeting had been held regarding these terms even after six months. He also pointed out the lack of any visit from Delhi representatives, despite the formation of committees in Delhi.
Chaudhury further criticized the Motha leadership for exploiting tribal issues to capture power while failing to deliver. He also mentioned the absence of protests from Motha’s cabinet members when the government decided to hand over the old Raj Bhavan to the Taj Group. He argued that the government should have conducted a public hearing and sought feedback before making such a decision. He ended by emphasizing widespread dissatisfaction with the government, citing ongoing civil protests across the state due to unmet demands like jobs, electricity, and water. Chaudhury also mocked the BJP’s membership drive, noting that many who joined soon left for other parties.
