Agartala, April 4: Acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising officers from the Government Railway Police Force (GRPF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) conducted a successful operation at Agartala Railway Station. The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals in possession of 22 kilograms of dry cannabis.
According to a railway police officer, they received credible information about an ongoing cannabis smuggling operation from Agartala to other states. Acting swiftly, the joint team executed a raid at the railway station, apprehending two suspects.
During the search, the team discovered the illicit substance concealed in two bags. The arrested individuals have been identified as Bablu Kumar and Shanu Kumar. While one hails from Bihar, the other is a resident of Sonamura.
The suspects were produced in court on Friday under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The estimated value of the seized cannabis is approximately Rs 2 lakh.
Authorities continue to investigate the network behind this smuggling operation, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region. The successful collaboration between GRPF, RPF, and TSR highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating drug trafficking.
