Agartala, July 10: The women wing of the Congress organized a sitting protest demonstration against the alleged increasing incidents of drug addiction and atrocities against women including rape in Tripura.
The four hours mass agitation started at at around 11 AM on Monday at Orient Chowmhuni area.
Senior Congress leaders including state president Asish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, former MLA Diba Chandra Hwrankhal also participated in the protest as they viewed that in majority of the incidents of drug trafficking, addiction, crime including those against women the ruling BJP leaders and supporters are involved and so the police is unable to take action against them.
Congress leaders also raised the incident of BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath caught on camera watching porn videos inside the assembly during the session of the House and in presence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha but no action has been taken against him rather those who protested against it were suspended from the Assembly and which according to the opposition encourages crime against women in Tripura.
