The government is paying 20.80 crores as premium for 10 lakh farmers through Pradhan Mantri Fosal Bima Yojana. 3 lakh 60 thousand farmers have been given Krishan Credit Cards. The mainstay of India’s economy is agriculture.
Therefore, the government has given special importance to agriculture and horticulture. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said while inaugurating the National Buyers and Sellers Conference at Pragya Bhaban on Monday. Speaking at the conference organized jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Processing and the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, he said that the climate of the state is suitable for agricultural work. Fruits are harvested here in 12 thousand hectares. That is how the government continues to try. Vegetables are being cultivated in 16 thousand hectares. Pineapple and other fruits of the state are going abroad. Integrated pack house for export has been constructed in the state. Work is underway to double farmers’ income.
Flowers are being cultivated in 1163 hectares area. 419 foreign flowers are being cultivated in the state. The fruits and other products produced by the state are being displayed continuously in different parts of the country. Department has produced and distributed 25 lakh high quality vegetable seedlings in Sipahijala district. A lot of industries can be set up in the state based on agriculture and gas. The state government has special arrangements for investors. At present, the income of farmers in the state has increased to 13 thousand 822 taka. Krishak Bandhu Center is being opened at the place. He also said that this conference is about seeds in agriculture and horticulture. Department Secretary Apurba Roy, APDEA- DGM Sunita Rai and others were present in the conference. Later, Chief Minister and other guests visited an exhibition of fruits produced in Tripura organized at Pragya Bhaban.
