Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang attended the Madhavpur Ghed Festival 2023 as the Chief Guest of the programme held at Madhavpur Ghed,Porbandar in Gujrat yesterday.
Madhavpur Ghed Fair is a celebration to commemorate and honour North East India’s cultural, spiritual, and social unity with Far West Region of India in Gujrat. The fair is a celebration of the marriage between lord Krishna and Rukmani who belonged to the Mishmi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to legend, the Mishmi Tribe traces its lineage back to the great King Bhishmaka, who was the father of Rukmani and Lord Krishna’s father-in-law. The festival commemorates the journey of Rukmani from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat with Lord Krishna.
After visiting Dwarkadish Temple and Nageshwar Jyotirling
in Dwarka , the Chief Minister was present at Madhavpur Ghed Mela this evening.
Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang in his address expressed that it’s a wonderful opportunity for him to be part of the festival and experience the vibrant culture on display with the rich traditional heritage of Gujarat and the Northeast.
He said that the initiative of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unite the country through cultural exchange by promoting the spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat is exemplary and highly commendable.
The Chief Minister extended his gratitude to the Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the Government of Gujarat for their warm hospitality.
During the programme cultural performances were also also presented by performing artists from North Eastern States and Gujrat.The representative troupe from Sikkim presented Singhi Chaam and Yak Chaam dance.
