Kalyanpur, April 4, 2024 — In a remarkable display of unity, 27 political parties from diverse backgrounds have joined forces to establish the India Manch, aiming to challenge the incumbent BJP government. Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury, addressing an election rally today, emphasized the urgency of safeguarding constitutional principles and democratic norms during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Chowdhury highlighted the critical state of affairs in the country over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule. He expressed concern about the erosion of constitutional values, threats to democracy, and the secular fabric of India. The formation of the India Manch seeks to counter these challenges and uphold the democratic system.
According to Chowdhury, every citizen deserves equal rights, yet the BJP-led government has curtailed fundamental liberties. The coalition of 27 parties aims to forge a united front, transcending ideological differences, to address pressing national issues.
During his address, Chowdhury questioned the elusive promises of reduced commodity prices. He decried the chaotic situation that has stifled the lives and aspirations of the people. Alleging a dictatorial regime, he accused the ruling party of privatizing critical assets such as airports, railways, banks, mines, and mills to favor select corporate entities.
The India Manch represents a convergence of parties that prioritize constitutional respect, faith in democratic institutions, religious neutrality, and national unity. This spirit echoes in Tripura as well, where six political parties (excluding CPIM Congress) have rallied together against the BJP-led government’s policies. Their collective resolve aims to counter the perceived neglect of common citizens.
Chowdhury also pointed out electoral bonds as a major corruption issue in the country, urging voters to consider these critical matters during the ongoing electoral process. The India Manch’s emergence underscores the power of collaboration in shaping India’s political landscape.
