Agartala, February 18: The much-anticipated three-day All India Yoga competition under Khelo India University Games 2023 commenced at the Netaji Subhas Regional Coaching Centre in Agartala on Sunday.
A total of 316 athletes, accompanied by their coaches and sports officials from 13 universities, have converged in Agartala to vie for top honors in the yoga competition.
The event was inaugurated today by Dr. Pradeep Chakraborty, Secretary of the Sports and Youth Affairs department.
The Khelo India University Games feature competitions in 20 different sports disciplines across the North East region, spanning seven states.
The final leg of the games, slated to take place in Guwahati, will host competitions in 16 sports disciplines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually inaugurate the final leg on February 29.
However, amidst prevailing concerns, it has been decided that no competitions will be held in Manipur due to the prevailing situation.
Despite this setback, organizers are committed to ensuring a successful and competitive event, fostering camaraderie and healthy competition among athletes from across the country.
As the All India Yoga competition unfolds in Agartala, participants and spectators alike eagerly anticipate thrilling displays of skill and athleticism, marking another milestone in the journey of the Khelo India University Games.
