Agartala, January 24: In a strategic move ahead of the 2024 Parliamentary election, BJP Tripura initiated the ‘Sakti Bandhan’ program on Wednesday. The program aims to bolster the party by actively engaging women voters, particularly those associated with self-help groups (SHGs) and non-government organizations (NGOs).
The inauguration of the program took place at Sahid Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala on Wednesday afternoon. BJP state president of Tripura, Rajib Bhattacharji, presided over the event, accompanied by the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dipak Majumder, Minister Tinku Roy, BJP general secretary Papia Datta, and several senior party leaders.
A substantial number of women members from SHGs and NGOs across the state were also in attendance.
Speaking to NEL, the BJP state president highlighted that the initiative aligns with the directives of BJP national president JP Nadda. The party aims to raise awareness about various schemes launched by the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to benefit women through SHGs and NGOs. These schemes, he emphasized, not only empowers women, promote self-employment but also contribute to strengthening the nation’s economy.
Bhattacharji underlined the party’s commitment to expanding its voter base by creating awareness and promoting government development initiatives. The goal is to secure a third consecutive term for Prime Minister Modi and, in turn, strengthen Tripura’s position by securing both parliamentary seats for him.
The ‘Sakti Bandhan’ program serves as a pivotal strategy in achieving these political objectives, emphasizing the BJP’s dedication to women’s empowerment and overall national development.
