Around 15 persons belonging to ruling BJP and Opposition CPIM were injured after a fight broke out between the two parties on Wednesday afternoon in Charilam Assembly Constituency under Tripura’s Sepahijala district.
Reportedly an aged person identified as one Sahid Mia, a CPIM supporter from Charilam succumbed to his injuries and several others have been critically wounded.
Former Minister Bhanulal Saha who at present is a CPIM has also been injured in the incident.
The injured were rescued in ambulance and firefighters vehicles and rushed to hospital.
Crude bombs were hurled, bricks pelted and police had to resort to lathicharged and fire tear gas to disperse the supporters of both parties as the national highway connecting Agartala Sabroom was closed for around half an hour.
The clash started following a rally of the opposition party which as pre declared was organizing a political program in Charilam which is the constituency of Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma who alleged that a CPIM leader from Bishalghar has been the mastermind behind disturbing peace in that area thought CPIM countered and alleged that the ruling party has initiated the attack on its peaceful demonstrators.
