Agartala, May 31: The international flight from MBB Airport will be flagged off shortly after immigration clearance by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), said Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
“The authority of MBB Airport has already begun exercise to get immigration clearance from the Centre. Once the matter is settled, international flight service from Agartala to Chittagong will be commenced”, he said during a press confernce.
Chowdhury said the state government has already released first instalment of viability gap funding to SpiceJet for introducing international flight service.
“Not only Agartala-Chittagong or Dhaka, the state government wants to introduce flight service to other South East Asian nations like Malaysia, Bangkok and Hongkong. This will enable the state to relation with these countries”, he said.
The TATA Vistara, a private airline is all set to introduce flight service between Agartala and Bangalore from August 1. At present, Indigo and Akasa operate three flight services in Agartala-Bangalore route, one of the important routes from MBB Airport (Agartala).
“The Vistara is scheduled to operate flight service in Agartala-Bangaluru from August 1. As per schedule, the flight will reach Agartala from Bangadlore and leave for its destination en-route to Guwahati. It will benefit the flyers immensely”, Director of airport K C Menna said.
