Agartala,Oct27: In a sensational development, TIPRA MOTHA MLA from 24-Ramchandraghat, Ranjit Debbarma has lodged a formal complaint to His Excellency the Governor of Tripura against Sri Amitabha Paul, SP Security, alleging extreme partiality, communal bias and corruption.
The letter, dated 27th October 2026 and received by Lok Bhavan today, alleges that the SP Security is running the security wing in a partisan manner.
In his letter, MLA Ranjit Debbarma alleged that there is no implemented transfer policy for police personnel in the security wing. He alleged that some personnel have been enjoying VIP and VVIP duties for more than three years, even 8 to 10 years without transfer, while others remain posted in the worst and remotest places for years. He further alleged that the officer does not transfer personnel for his “bestowed interest and wrongful financial gain.”
The MLA raised a more personal grievance. He stated that the officer transfers the PSOs deployed for his security on several occasions without any consultation or prior information.
“Neither I have raised any complain against the deployed PSO nor the PSO placed any complain against me before police department. In such a situation, the several transfers made on the part of the SP Security just to put me in a psychological pressure,” the letter reads.
The MLA stated that his constituency, 24-Ramchandraghat is located in a high-risk zone in terms of security and he has to move in the remotest hilly areas. He had written several applications for increasing security personnel.
According to the letter, on 10.10.2026, SP Security suddenly withdrew one PSO, Sukesh Debbarma, without any information. The MLA wrote an application on 13.10.2026 protesting the act, but no action was taken. Neither was the PSO refunded nor was a replacement provided. In protest, on 23.10.2026 at 15:00 hours, the MLA surrendered his remaining 2 PSOs with a direction to report to SP Security. Since 23.10.2026, he has been without any PSO till date, the letter claims. He also cited past instances of deadly assault on MLAs and Ministers of Tripura – MLA Parimal Saha, MLA Madhusudhan Saha, MLA Gautam Datta, Minister Bimal Sinha – who lost their lives due to negligence of concerned police officers.
Under these circumstances, he has prayed for suitable action against Sri Amitabha Paul, SP Security, for maintaining law and order and to secure the faith of the people.
