Agartala, October 2: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister and Krishnapur MLA Bikash Debbarma on Friday reviewed preparations for a yarn distribution and certificate presentation programme scheduled to be held in the constituency on October 13.
Debbarma chaired a meeting at the BJP Mandal office in Krishnapur to discuss arrangements for the programme, which will be held at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds near Chakmaghat Barrage.
Chief Minister Manik Saha is expected to attend the event and hand over certificates to beneficiaries besides overseeing the distribution of yarn, according to organisers.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Debbarma emphasised the need to ensure that eligible families are informed about the programme and urged them to undertake an extensive outreach campaign in the constituency.
He asked workers to visit households in tribal and remote areas and personally inform residents about the October 13 event.
Debbarma also said government services should be accessible to beneficiaries irrespective of their political affiliation and directed workers to focus on spreading awareness about welfare schemes and services.
The minister called upon members of the BJP’s Tribal Morcha to actively participate in the outreach exercise, particularly in remote villages where communication gaps could affect awareness about government programmes.
The meeting was attended by BJP Mandal general secretary Wathrai Molsum and other local leaders, workers and supporters. Discussions centred on mobilisation, beneficiary outreach and arrangements for the proposed ceremony.
The programme will include distribution of yarn to local beneficiaries, aimed at supporting traditional livelihood activities, along with presentation of government certificates to eligible residents.
Residents of Ratia, Durgapur, South Durgapur and adjoining areas are expected to benefit from the initiative, organisers said.
The organisers said the programme is intended to facilitate access to government services and welfare benefits, particularly among residents of rural and tribal areas of the constituency.
Preparations at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds have begun ahead of the October 13 event, with local teams working on arrangements for the programme.
Debbarma asked workers to maintain contact with residents in the run-up to the ceremony and ensure that eligible beneficiaries are informed about the services and facilities being provided.
He said coordinated efforts by local workers and organisers would be necessary for the smooth conduct of the programme and wider outreach to residents of Krishnapur.
The minister also stressed the importance of ensuring that beneficiaries from remote areas are not excluded because of communication or awareness-related gaps, according to organisers.
