Agartala, February 13: The Tripura Cabinet has approved the establishment of new Ayurvedic and Homoeopathy medical colleges and cleared recruitment and promotion proposals across several departments, Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury said on Friday.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday.
Briefing reporters at the civil secretariat, Chowdhury said the Cabinet approved setting up an Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Tepania in Gomati district with an annual intake of 60 students from the 2026–27 academic session. Until a permanent campus is constructed, the institution will operate from a temporary campus at Chandrapur in the same district.
The Cabinet also cleared a proposal to establish a Homoeopathy Medical College and Hospital with 60 seats at the Netaji Subhas State Homoeo Hospital in Agartala, West Tripura district. The existing Homoeopathic Hospital at Renters Colony will house the proposed college.
On the employment front, the Cabinet approved recruitment to 445 posts and promotion in 110 posts across departments, taking the total number of positions to be filled to 555. This includes 110 Veterinary Officer (Group B) posts under the Animal Resource Development Department through the Tripura Public Service Commission, 100 Multi-Purpose Worker posts in the Health and Family Welfare Department, and eight Multi-Tasking Staff posts in the Directorate of Prosecution under the Home Department.
Additionally, seven Lower Division Clerk posts will be filled in the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency under the Power Department, while 330 posts will be created under the Tripura Information Technology Service cadre—220 through direct recruitment and 110 through promotion.
The Cabinet also approved an increase in house rent allowance for Tripura State Rifles personnel posted in New Delhi and enhanced boarding stipends for 37,773 hostel inmates under the Tribal Welfare Department.
