Agartala/New Delhi:
Tripura made a mark on the national stage as Bhaskar Ghosh, a state award-winning NSS Programme Officer from Gandacherra Higher Secondary School, led the Northeast NSS Contingent at the Republic Day Parade Camp 2026 in New Delhi. Ghosh’s leadership highlighted the state’s commitment to discipline, culture, and youth engagement.
The 19-member team, comprising 18 volunteers and their leader, represented the Northeast during the month-long camp held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from January 1 to 31. Their synchronized march along Kartavya Path, alongside military and paramilitary forces, drew nationwide admiration for precision and discipline.
Tripura’s presence was further showcased through cultural performances by Dwip Sutradhar of Ramthakur College and Sumi Roy of Sachin Debbarman Memorial Government Music College, who brought the state’s rich heritage to the national stage.
Bhaskar Ghosh’s selection as leader is a rare honour—he became only the third Tripura officer in 38 years to head the Northeast contingent and the first in 17 years to achieve this distinction. His leadership underscored Tripura’s growing role in national youth and cultural initiatives.
Beyond the parade, the volunteers had the privilege of interacting with the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports. They performed traditional dances at Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Prime Minister’s Rally, earning accolades for their artistry. The contingent also visited prominent heritage sites including Rajghat, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Red Fort, and Qutub Minar, enriching their cultural and historical understanding.
On returning to Guwahati, the team received a warm reception and met the Governor of Assam, who commended their dedication and discipline. Reflecting on the experience, Ghosh said, “It was not just about marching—it was about presenting the soul of the Northeast before the nation’s leadership. For our volunteers, this was a life-changing journey.”
This achievement marks a proud moment for Tripura, placing the state prominently on India’s Republic Day celebrations.
