Agartala: Jan 30: Monday was the last day to file nomination papers for the 2023 assembly elections. The nominated candidates of various political parties submitted their nomination papers peacefully on this day. On this day, 228 nomination papers have been submitted across the state. State Election Commission official Kiran Gitte said about the press conference organized at the conference hall of the West District Governor’s office on Monday.
In 2018, a total of 297 nomination papers were submitted. 305 nomination papers have been submitted till date for the upcoming elections. A total of 60 returning officers in the state were kept ready to receive nominations so that no political party’s nominees would face any problem. On this day, no candidate was prevented from coming to file nomination papers with the Returning Officer. Chief Officer of the State Election Commission Kiran Gitye said that the information received from the District Magistrate and the District Superintendent of Police. A scrutiny will be listed on Tuesday. A delegation of 25 observers has come to the state to scout. And the date of withdrawal of nomination papers will be till February 2. After 3 pm on February 2, it will be clear how many nominated candidates are fighting in the upcoming assembly elections, said the Chief Election Officer. He said that all 305 people who submitted nomination papers will get security personnel. Those who withdraw their nomination papers will also withdraw their security personnel, he said. He also said that the police office observer has come to Tripura. They are serving in eight districts. There are also special observations. The Chief Officer of the State Election Commission said that this special observer is keeping an eye on the election situation of the entire state.
