Agartala:Oct 08: The spirit of togetherness and gratitude that marked last year’s celebrations returns with greater zeal as the Sharadotsav 2025 Scheme expands to reach every household in Tripura. Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Sushanta Chowdhury, inaugurated the free ration distribution program at Fair Price Shop No. 148, Milan Chakra area in Agartala, on Wednesday.
Under this festive welfare initiative, each ration cardholder will receive 2 kg of flour, 1 kg of sugar, and 500 grams of semolina—completely free of cost. The scheme aims to ensure that even the most economically vulnerable families can celebrate the joyous occasion of Sharadotsav with dignity and inclusion.
“Sharadotsav is a celebration of joy and togetherness. Through this initiative, we want every household, especially those dependent on ration support, to feel part of the festivities. This is not just about food—it’s about dignity and festive spirit,” said Minister Chowdhury while distributing the ration items to beneficiaries.
He further emphasized the state government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged and its continued efforts to make social support schemes more inclusive. Nearly 9.90 lakh ration card-holding families across the state are expected to benefit from the program, with the government allocating Rs 7 crore to implement it successfully.
The inaugural event was attended by several dignitaries, including Badharghat MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Food Department Director Sumit Lodh, and Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das, among others.
