Agartala, June 11 – In a compassionate gesture, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha recently extended financial assistance to the families of seven individuals who lost their lives in separate drowning incidents across the western region of the state.
Each bereaved family received a cheque of ₹4 lakh, handed over personally by the Chief Minister in the presence of senior administrative officials from the respective affected areas. The financial support is aimed at providing immediate relief to the grieving families during their time of loss.
The seven individuals who tragically lost their lives in recent incidents have been identified as Piyali Debbarma and Priyanka Debbarma from Ramsadhupara under Sidhai Police Station, Mahindra Singh from Joynagar in Jirania, Tanmoy Debnath from Mandai Para, Liton Saha from Ujan Abhoynagar, Prosanjit Debnath from Brajanagar under Majlishpur, and Ankush Rishi Das from Pratapgarh.
These unfortunate drowning accidents, which occurred in different locations of the West Tripura district, had shocked local communities and drawn attention to the risks posed by open water bodies during the monsoon season.
While handing over the cheques, Chief Minister Dr. Saha expressed his deepest condolences to the families and prayed for the departed souls. He also wished strength and resilience to the families as they cope with their irreparable losses.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to standing by its citizens in times of distress and assured that the government would continue working toward the safety and welfare of all residents.
