Agartala: May 25: After remaining abandoned for a long time, the Delhiwala Petrol Pump in Jaynagar, Jirania, was relaunched on Sunday under a new name—Ganpati Petrol Pump. The ownership of the pump has now been taken over by Gautam Pal, a prominent businessman from Jirania.
The petrol pump was inaugurated on Sunday at an auspicious moment by State Minister of Transport and Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury, who lit a ceremonial lamp and cut the ribbon. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Chief Whip of the State Legislative Assembly, Kalyani Saha Roy, Mandal President Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, and Jirania Municipal Chairperson Ratan Das, among others.
To mark the grand occasion, devotional chanting and a sacred yagya (ritual) were organized at the petrol pump premises. As part of a social responsibility initiative, a special program was also held to honor elderly women from the locality. Gautam Pal personally participated in the event, respectfully handing over garments to the elderly mothers and expressing his gratitude.
Speaking to the media, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “With this petrol pump becoming operational again, not only will local residents benefit from essential fuel services, but former employees will also have the opportunity to resume their jobs. This is undoubtedly a positive and welcome step.”
The reopening of Ganpati Petrol Pump generated enthusiasm among local residents and the business community. Many see this as a turning point that could open new avenues for both economic and social development in the Jirania region. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter that blends progress with community care.
