Agartala: May 05: In a shocking turn of events, a violent clash broke out on Monday between workers of the ruling BJP and its coalition partner Tipra Motha in front of the Takargaon police station. The confrontation, which turned bloody, left several individuals injured and resulted in significant property damage.
During the clash, multiple vehicles, including a cargo Bolero and scooters, were vandalized. BJP’s campaign materials were also torn down and destroyed in the chaos. The sudden eruption of violence led to high tension in the area. As the local police struggled to manage the situation, additional forces were rushed in. A large CRPF contingent was later deployed to restore order, and both parties lodged FIRs against each other at the Takargaon police station.
This incident has triggered intense public concern and scrutiny. Despite being in alliance with the BJP, Tipra Motha has been accused of repeated misconduct. Recently, its student wing blocked roads, delaying emergency ambulance services and reportedly harassing students en route to examination centers—yet the state government remained notably silent.
Observers suggest that the BJP’s limited influence in the hill regions might have compelled it to accept Tipra Motha as a coalition partner. However, many now believe that Tipra Motha has exploited this arrangement to further its own influence, often at the ruling party’s expense.
The latest violence has reignited a deeper question in public discourse: has the “venomous snake,” once nurtured with milk and bananas, now begun to strike at the hand that fed it? With tensions still simmering in Takargaon, the political future of this uneasy alliance remains uncertain.
Whether this marks the beginning of deeper rifts within the coalition—or just a temporary fallout—remains to be seen.
