Agartala, April 27: Acting on confidential information, a joint team comprising the **Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP)**, **Railway Protection Force (RPF)**, and intelligence officials detained **four Bangladeshi nationals** from **Agartala railway station** on Sunday. The individuals had reportedly entered India illegally from Bangladesh and were preparing to travel to other Indian states by train.
The detained individuals have been identified as **Jahirul Islam alias Jahir (42)**, **Dilwar Hossain (44)**, **Jamirul Islam (27)**, and **Mohammad Zia (35)**. During preliminary interrogation, the detainees confessed that they had plans to travel to **Bengaluru** and **Chennai**. Authorities suspect that more people could be involved in this case, and a larger network may be at play.
A formal case has been registered at the **Agartala GRP police station**, and the accused will be **produced before the court on Monday**. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation and trying to uncover the full extent of the illegal entry and travel plans.
In a separate incident, the **Agartala GRP** recovered **19 packets of cannabis** from the **Deoghar Express train** on Saturday. The discovery has raised concerns about the use of railway routes for narcotics trafficking. Speaking to the media, **Tapas Das**, Officer-in-Charge of Agartala GRP, shared details about the seizure and confirmed that an investigation is underway.
In light of these incidents, **security measures have been intensified** at Agartala railway station. Authorities have increased surveillance and patrolling in and around the station to ensure public safety and to prevent any illegal activities.
The police have urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest law enforcement authorities.
