Agartala: April 10: Rangacherra, a small village in the West Tripura district under Mohanpur R D Block, is on its way to becoming the state’s first solar-powered village. On Thursday, the state power minister, Ratan Lal Nath, accompanied by senior officials from the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA), visited the village to inspect the progress of the initiative.
During the visit, the minister announced that 600 families in Rangacherra would rely on solar energy to meet their daily power needs. He also stated that in the absence of solar power, the villagers would have access to traditional grid electricity provided by Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited.
Once plagued by irregular electricity and challenging living conditions, Rangacherra is now emerging as a model of climate sustainability. With the installation of a solar grid, the village is set to achieve consistent electricity supply for all households, marking a significant step forward in renewable energy adoption.
