Agartala, March 16:Five drug traffickers, including two women, were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Agartala railway station while they were attempting to smuggle dry marijuana out of Tripura by train, a senior official said on Sunday.
Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Agartala GRP station, stated that the arrested individuals include four persons from Bihar and one from Tripura.
He added that they were arrested in three separate operations and the contraband, intended for Bihar, has an estimated market value of around ₹10 lakh, as per information revealed during their initial interrogation.
A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Agartala GRP station.
All five will be produced before the court today, with the police seeking their remand for further investigation to identify other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
