Agartala, March 3: Two women from Bihar were arrested at Agartala railway station while attempting to smuggle a large quantity of ganja, a senior Government Railway Police (GRP) official said on Monday.
Inspector Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of the GRP station at Agartala railway station, stated that the accused were caught a day ago with 21.65 kg of dry ganja, which they intended to transport to Bihar by train.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sunita Devi from Patna and Rita Devi from Vaishali district. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them at the Agartala GRP station.
According to officials, both women were produced before the court on Monday, with the police seeking remand for further interrogation to uncover potential links in the drug trafficking network.
