Agartala, February 6: With an aim to boost industrialization and highlight Tripura as a prime business destination, the Industry and Commerce Department of the state government is organizing a two-day ‘Business Conclave 2025’ in Agartala.
Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma announced that the event, beginning Friday, is expected to witness the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately ₹600 crore.
This year’s theme, ‘Destination Tripura, Land of Opportunities’, aims to position the state as a premier industrial hub in Northeast India.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Minister Chakma emphasized the government’s commitment under Chief Minister Manik Saha to making Tripura self-reliant through industrialization.
She informed that around 100 investors from across the country are likely to participate in the conclave, focusing on key sectors such as IT, healthcare, tourism, education, and skill development.
To attract investors and entrepreneurs, the conclave will feature discussions and demonstrations on the advantages of setting up industries in Tripura.
Chakma highlighted that the state offers a business-friendly atmosphere, power surplus, strategic connectivity, and a time-bound single-window system for approvals. Investors will also benefit from various incentives, including tax holidays and financial support.
Minister Chakma noted that in the past five fiscal years, some 160 business units have been established in Tripura, attracting investments of over ₹1,600 crore.
Industry Secretary Kiren Gitte and Director Vishwasree B, who were present at the press conference, along with the Minister who stressed the significance of the conclave in shaping Tripura’s industrial future.
She pointed out that industries not only generate employment opportunities but also stimulate economic activities by adding value to local resources.
The conclave will conclude on Saturday, with Chief Minister Manik Saha attending the final session, during which the MoU signings are set to take place. The event is expected to mark a significant step in Tripura’s journey toward economic growth and industrial expansion.
