Agartala: Jan 28: State Women’s Congress President, Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty, has strongly condemned the harassment of a teacher and two students during a train journey. She expressed her protest at a press conference, where State Congress spokesperson Pravir Chakraborty was also present.
On January 26th, Paritosh Pal, a teacher at Hari Radha Vidyalaya in Hadrai under Teliamura police station, was traveling by train to drop off two students at their homes. Some Congress leaders accosted them, questioning the absence of a permission letter for the students to leave the hostel. Despite the teacher’s attempts to prove his innocence, the Congress leaders handed him over to the police. He was released after the parents of the two students came to the police station.
Angry at the Congress leaders’ actions, the students of the school boycotted classes on Monday, demanding justice for the teacher. Meanwhile, Paritosh Pal filed a complaint with the railway police against the leaders.
At the press conference, Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty strongly protested and condemned the harassment of the teacher. Pravir Chakraborty also expressed his reaction to the incident, stating that the harassment by the Congress women leaders was highly condemnable. He requested Paritosh Pal to forgive the incident, attributing it to suspicion.
Chakraborty clarified that the State Women’s Congress President and the District President were not involved in the incident, which occurred without their knowledge. He suggested that there might be a conspiracy behind linking their names to the incident in the media and social media.
Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty mentioned that she learned about the matter through the media and was not previously aware of it. She strongly protested against the incident and expressed regret on behalf of the State Women’s Congress.
