Agartala, December 19: A 70-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident at Briddhinagar under the Ranirbazar police station in West Tripura district on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Usha Das, was fatally hit by a speeding tipper lorry while attempting to cross the road, according to family members.
Following the accident, Das was rushed to the trauma center at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital in a firefighter vehicle. Despite receiving treatment for some time, he succumbed to his injuries.
This incident highlights the ongoing concerns over road safety in Tripura.
While the government has undertaken various measures and awareness campaigns, road accidents remain a significant cause of fatalities in the state.
The vehicle involved in the accident has been seized and is currently at the Ranirbazar police station, but the driver managed to flee the scene.
