Agartala, Oct 8:** Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday chaired a meeting in Jirania Sub-Division to review preparations for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Durga Puja celebrations, officials said.
The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office and was attended by elected representatives, officials of the police administration and officers from various government departments.
The participants reviewed arrangements for the annual festival, with particular focus on maintaining law and order, traffic management, public safety and ensuring uninterrupted essential services during the festive period.
Measures to facilitate the movement of devotees and residents were also discussed, particularly in areas likely to witness large gatherings during the celebrations.
Chowdhury stressed the need for close coordination among various government departments and agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well ahead of the festivities.
He urged officials, public representatives and local stakeholders to work collectively to ensure that Durga Puja is celebrated in an orderly and peaceful manner without causing inconvenience to residents.
The minister also emphasised the importance of maintaining communal harmony, brotherhood and social cohesion during the festival.
He expressed hope that the administration, police, elected representatives and people would work together to ensure peaceful celebrations across the sub-division.
The meeting also reviewed traffic-related arrangements and measures to strengthen public safety, particularly around puja venues and other places expected to attract large numbers of people.
Chowdhury said coordinated efforts by all stakeholders would be essential to address any challenges that may arise during the festivities and ensure that devotees can participate in the celebrations safely and conveniently.
The minister conveyed his greetings to the people on the occasion of Durga Puja and wished them a joyous and peaceful festive season.
He said the celebrations should help strengthen bonds of friendship, unity and togetherness among people.
Seeking the blessings of Goddess Durga, Chowdhury wished happiness, peace and prosperity for all and expressed confidence that the festival would be celebrated with enthusiasm, mutual respect and harmony throughout Jirania Sub-Division.
The meeting formed part of the administration’s preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, with officials reviewing arrangements aimed at ensuring a safe, peaceful and orderly celebration.
