**Agartala, October 6:** West Tripura Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb highlighted India’s long-term development goals and the vision of a developed nation by 2047 during an interaction with UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Kanni Wignaraja at the United Nations Headquarters.
Deb participated in the interaction along with fellow Members of Parliament and discussed India’s development priorities, including inclusive growth, sustainable development and governance reforms.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, Deb presented the roadmap for “Viksit Bharat @2047”, India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by the centenary of its Independence.
The discussions focused on India’s development trajectory and the measures being undertaken to achieve sustained economic growth while ensuring social inclusion and equitable access to development opportunities.
Deb highlighted the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and said inclusive development remained an important component of India’s long-term vision.
He also outlined key areas of the development roadmap, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, technology and social empowerment.
According to the statement, Wignaraja appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and acknowledged the relevance of the inclusive growth approach associated with the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.
The interaction also covered India’s experience in pursuing development while addressing challenges relating to social inclusion, sustainability and governance.
UNDP representatives expressed interest in India’s approach to sustainable growth, social empowerment and governance reforms, the statement said.
Deb emphasised India’s role in contributing to global discussions on development and equity and highlighted the country’s engagement with international institutions on development-related issues.
The West Tripura MP said India’s development priorities were aligned with broader global development frameworks and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The engagement at the UN Headquarters provided an opportunity to exchange views on India’s development experience and its long-term aspirations, according to the statement.
The “Viksit Bharat @2047” vision envisages comprehensive progress across sectors, including human development, infrastructure, technology, healthcare, education and social welfare.
The interaction also focused on the importance of inclusive and sustainable growth in achieving long-term development objectives.
Deb’s meeting with the UNDP leadership formed part of his international engagement at the United Nations, where discussions centred on India’s development journey and its aspirations for the coming decades.
The interaction also highlighted the scope for greater exchange of development experiences between India and international institutions on issues concerning sustainable growth, governance and social inclusion.
