Agartala, July 19: Chessverse – Crafting Minds, a premier chess academy founded by former Tripura State Chess Champion Pratik Debnath, celebrated its first Foundation Day on Saturday, marking a year of remarkable achievements in promoting chess and nurturing young talent across the state.
Established on July 20, 2025, Chessverse was launched with the vision of building a vibrant chess culture in Tripura by providing quality coaching, identifying young talent and making chess accessible to children from all sections of society. Within just one year, the academy has emerged as one of the state’s leading chess training centres.
According to the academy, Chessverse has trained more than 1,000 students through its offline classes, online coaching programmes, school workshops and community outreach initiatives. The academy currently has an active strength of over 200 students, while its trainees have collectively registered more than 300 prize-winning performances in various chess tournaments. The academy has also helped produce over 50 FIDE-rated players, reflecting its growing contribution to competitive chess in the state.
As part of its outreach efforts, Chessverse organised free chess workshops in several schools across Agartala and conducted a special coaching camp in Udaipur. The academy has also expanded its online coaching programmes, enabling aspiring players from different parts of Tripura and beyond to receive structured chess training.
Expressing gratitude to the All Tripura Chess Association (ATCA), Chessverse acknowledged the association’s constant encouragement and support throughout its journey. The academy said it aims to expand chess education to every corner of Tripura by collaborating with schools, creating more competitive opportunities and developing the next generation of chess champions.
To commemorate the occasion, Chessverse organised Chessverse Champions Day at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala. During the programme, prizes were distributed to winners of the recently concluded Chessverse Open Rapid Chess Tournament, which attracted participation from 170 players. The academy also presented the “Chessverse Rising Stars 2025-26” awards and felicitated winners of the Puzzle Challenge and Parents’ Quiz Competition.
The event was attended by Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil as the Chief Guest, while Tripura Sports Council Secretary Sukanta Ghosh, Tripura Commission for Women Chairperson Jharna Debbarma, SDM Animesh Dhar, ATCA President Abhijit Moulick and several other dignitaries were present.
Founder Pratik Debnath said the academy’s first year was only the beginning of a larger mission.
“Our vision is to take quality chess education to every corner of Tripura and inspire the next generation of champions,” he said.
