**Agartala, June 3:** In a significant boost to rural employment and the renewable energy sector, 18 candidates from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in Tripura have secured jobs after successfully completing skill training under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0.
The candidates received specialized training in the trade of **Solar Photovoltaic Technician** at the New Directions Educational Society and have now been placed with **Mahamaya Traders, Agartala**. As part of their employment package, each candidate will receive an annual salary of **Rs 1.44 lakh**, along with performance-based incentives.
The achievement marks another milestone in the state’s efforts to empower rural youth through skill development and create sustainable livelihood opportunities in emerging sectors. It also highlights the growing role of renewable energy in generating employment while supporting environmental sustainability.
According to officials of the **Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM)**, the successful placement comes at a time when demand for trained solar technicians is increasing rapidly across the country. The expansion of solar energy infrastructure under the **PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana** has opened up new avenues of employment in the renewable energy sector, particularly in the installation and maintenance of rooftop solar systems.
TRLM officials stated that the training programme was designed to equip rural youth with industry-relevant technical skills and practical knowledge, enabling them to meet the requirements of a fast-growing sector. By linking training directly with employment opportunities, the programme is helping bridge the gap between skill acquisition and job placement.
The officials further noted that the initiative contributes not only to individual economic empowerment but also to Tripura’s broader goals of promoting clean energy and sustainable development. The growing adoption of solar energy across households and institutions is expected to create additional employment opportunities for trained professionals in the coming years.
Congratulating the successful candidates, TRLM expressed confidence that their achievement would inspire more rural youth to participate in skill development programmes and pursue careers in emerging industries.
The success story underscores the effectiveness of DDU-GKY 2.0 in enhancing employability, improving livelihoods, and creating a skilled workforce capable of supporting India’s transition toward a greener and more sustainable future.
