Agartala, May 3:From hospital bed at Mumbai in a politically charged and emotionally resonant live address, TIPRA Motha party founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Sunday reached out to his party’s youth members under the banner of Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), urging unity, vigilance against corruption, and a decisive shift towards youth-led leadership on the organisation’s foundation day.
Debbarma, who is undergoing treatment reportedly for pressure-related health complications in Mumbai, said he was “fine” but used the moment to deliver a substantive political message to what he repeatedly referred to as “YTF warriors.”
“Today is the foundation day of YTF. Never forget why this organisation was created,” he said, underlining that the youth wing has been central to his political strategy.
Pradyot asserted that the maximum opportunities within the party have been extended to YTF members, many of whom now hold key positions as MLAs and MDCs.
Drawing a sharp contrast with past political practices, Debbarma said that earlier, youth were often placed at the forefront during protests and movements but denied leadership roles when power was attained. “This is the time for the new generation,” he declared, pointing out that nearly 70 percent of Tripura’s population is below 35 years of age, including a significant Gen Z demographic.
He cautioned that policymaking disconnected from contemporary realities—technology, communication, and aspirations of younger citizens—would ultimately harm future generations. “If decision-makers are not aligned with the present, the loss will be ours and of the next generation,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment, Debbarma stressed that his political struggle remains rooted in the welfare of “his people” and the future of Tiprasa. “Politics will come and go, but if YTF works with honesty, the future of Tiprasa will remain in safe hands,” he added.
In a candid reflection on his own health and mortality, he told party workers that they must begin taking responsibility at the grassroots level.
He called upon YTF members to visit villages, ensure transparency, and keep administrative systems accountable. “Go to every village, ensure there is no corruption, and keep the administration alert,” Pradyot urged.
The TIPRA Motha chief also acknowledged internal challenges, warning that divisive elements exist both outside and within the organisation. However, he maintained that unity and integrity would be decisive.
“If you work together, without fighting among yourselves, no force can stop you—not in the ADC, not in 2028,” he said, hinting at future political battles.
Despite being away for treatment, Debbarma struck an emotional chord, saying his “heart remains with every village and every home.” He assured supporters of his return, albeit after some time needed for recovery.
“I will come back stronger than ever,” Pradyot said, asking cadres to remain patient and steadfast.
Debbarma concluded with commitment for victory in the coming Village Council and 2028 Assembly elections as he call for solidarity and humility in power, reminding workers not to lose sight of their roots. “Never forget Tiprasa. Power should not make us forget the people who created us,” he said.
The message, delivered on a day of organisational significance, is being seen as both a reaffirmation of Debbarma’s leadership and a strategic push to consolidate youth-driven politics within TIPRA Motha.
