Biotechnology department’s employee arrested for usurping money
Agartala, May 3: Surajit Chakraborty, a multi tasking staff of Biotechnology department was arrested on charge of forgery and usurping money of the department, police said on Sunday.
Based on a specific complaint, a team of NCC police station carried out raid in the house of Surajit and arrested him on charge of forgery and usurping money amounting to Rs. 3.16 lakh.
In the compliant, Drawing and Disbursement Officer (DDO), Biotechnology department, Dashu Chakma alleged he had sent Surajit with three cheques to deposit money in venders’ account. However, it appeared, the employee forged these cheques and deposited the money to his account.
“We have already started investigation into the forgery case. So far, we came to know that he diverted Rs. 3.16 lakh and it could be more. The arrested employee will be produced before the court seeking police remand for interrogation”, said a senior police officer.
