Udaipur, Aug 8 — Acting on a tip-off, police seized a large quantity of narcotics from a house in Chandrapur Village Panchayat’s Ward No. 4 on Thursday. The operation was led by Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirman Das.
According to police, the raid targeted the residence of one Prosenjit Debnath, a youth suspected of being involved in the illegal drug trade for a considerable period. Acting swiftly on confidential information, a police team from Radha Kishorepur Police Station accompanied the SDPO to the location and conducted a thorough search of the premises.
During the search, police recovered a substantial amount of narcotic substances, although the exact quantity and type of drugs have not yet been disclosed officially. Authorities believe the seized items were intended for sale in the local market, continuing a supply chain that has been operating for months.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Debnath had been running his illicit trade from his own home, allegedly distributing the narcotics to multiple buyers in and around the area. Locals claim that suspicious activities had been noticed at the residence for some time, prompting complaints that eventually reached the police.
SDPO Nirman Das commended the team for their quick action and reiterated the department’s commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in the subdivision. He also appealed to the public to share information about such activities to help curb the menace.
Police have taken Debnath into custody and registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify other individuals linked to the supply network.
